Stillness: Study 19

With stillness, my morning is mindful. I cultivate good energy. I grow full of awareness as I awake to the day and this present moment. My practice on ongoing—continual and intended to touch my life deeply from one moment to the next as I move through my day. Mornings—when my home is still and the outside world is sleeping, are easier for me. But sometimes, even into this sacred, quiet space, I bring the chatter from a previous time or perhaps aspirations for the future - or simply my ever-growing “to-do-list.” I am aware of this — my wandering mind. In love, I recognize it - and bring it back to the now. In the now, I am fully alive. I practice to live in this alive state with my mind at one with what my body is doing - eating, talking, listening, walking . . . I practice with understanding, and with a relaxed and gentle attitude, I open mind and my heart.

My mind wonders; I am patient and kind.

I breathe in and out, and I settle into stillness. I scan my body for any tension and breath into those areas and release. I empty my mind of thought, and I am at peace, feeling full of life. I radiate good energy. I focus on my breath and this feeling of fullness. If my mind wanders, I am aware. Patiently and with kindness, I recenter.

Making a Connection Through Art Journaling

I am posting this short video showing you how I cultivate stillness through art and nature. Enjoy!

Patience is a natural consequence of the cultivation of compassion and love, for ourselves and all beings.
