Forsaken
Daily Dose of Emily
“To put this World down, like a Bundle—
And walk steady, away,
Requires Energy—possibly Agony—
’Tis the Scarlet way
Trodden with straight renunciation
By the Son of God—
Later, his faint Confederates
Justify the Road—
Flavors of that old Crucifixion—
Filaments of Bloom, Pontius Pilate sowed—
Strong Clusters, from Barabbas’ Tomb—
Sacrament, Saints partook before us—
Patent, every drop,
With the Brand of the Gentile Drinker
Who indorsed the Cup— ”
Daily Scripture Reading
Anchor Verse
“From noon on, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon. And about three o’clock Jesus cried with a loud voice, ‘Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?’ that is, ‘My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?’”

Sometimes we feel so alone. We send our texts, we make our calls, we upload our photos, communicate with our friends and relations, but still there is a gap. There is a feeling of loneness. This feeling runs deeply in our society today. We feel it collectively. We experience it individually too. It is a cold ache at the center of the heart. A frozen cross of pain. At times, we feel abandoned—forsaken.
We must be aware of these feelings. We must acknowledge them and honor them. We must feel them deeply and directly and then let them go. As they pass - we are even more empty - but it is an emptiness of peace. In this peace and calm we then can center in on a feeling and a knowing that resides within. It’s been there since even before we were born into this life we are now experiencing -it simply has been covered by this pain body that we carry around with us. We are not alone. We are connected with all of life. We are important; we are valued, we are protected; we are worthy; and we are loved.
Today’s mediation will be to acknowledge and honor our loneliness and release it and come to a stillness so that we can ground ourselves into to the feeling of oneness with all.
Let’s begin.
Find a comfortable place sitting in a chair with your feet firm on the ground or on the floor with your legs crossed in front of you. Take a deep breath in and relax. You are bringing in breath and relaxation, opening your entire body to receive more and more oxygen, more and more light. You are becoming calm. You are at peace. You mind is empty and quiet. Your thoughts - dissipating - dissolving with each breath you take. Breathe in - breathe out - relax.
Put your hands on your heart. Feel your heart. Feel the steady beat. Notice the weight of your heart. Notice how it feels. Breathe in through your nose. Breathe out- exhaling loudly through your mouth. How do you feel? Breathe in through your nose. Breathe out- loud sigh through your mouth. How do you feel about your connections with others: with friends, family, loved ones, co-workers? How do you feel? Breathe in. Breathe out. Feel deeply whatever emotion arises. Breathe in - and welcome more oxygen to this area of your body. Breath out—release any tension - any darkness - any pain - any coldness. Allow any emotions you find there to be released. Breathe in - breathe out— they melt away. Breath in - feel how your breath fills your heart. Breathe out. Breathe in-open your heart fully and feel how your breath warms your heart. Breathe out. Breathe in — breathe out.
Inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth. Move your hands, placing them gently on your knees with your palms facing upward towards the sky. Shift your shoulders side to side. Release. Release. Let go of pain or tension. Breathe in through your nose and breathe out through your mouth. Let it go. You are empty. You are still. You are safe. You are calm. Close your eyes. Breath in gently through your nose -Breathe out through your nose. Inhale love—exhale love.
Welcome this centering thought:
I am cradled in the love of the universe; I am one with all.
I am cradled in the love of the universe; I am one with all.
I am cradled in the love of the universe; I am one with all.
Gently begin to move your fingers and toes. Begin to become aware of the space around you. Breathe in. Breathe out. Smile. And when you are ready open your eyes
Thank you for joining me on this meditation today. All my love to you. Namaste.
