Earth-Body-Soul: How to Make Sun Tea With Calendula and Rosemary

Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.

Let’s Have Tea Together - Shall We?

Today has been a very good day. I woke and worked on my blog and also did a few of my exercises. Then, as the sun began to do her morning stretches in the east, but before its warming rays took the slight chill from the air, I took my dog, Pip, for a walk. He absolutely adores walking, and so do I. Sometimes, in my walking, I just notice and observe the outward beauty of my patch of woods. Everyday there, there is something new to marvel. However, sometimes I do travel inward. This week, as my studies have caused me to think on death and remembrance, today - I do a little of both - look outward and turn inward.

So often nature speaks to me on death. A fallen tree, withered grass, half eaten leaves . . . — and always there is the life connection. In the rotting, the withering, and the half eaten, new life emerges. A sapling, anew shoot, a butterfly.

Accepting death is difficult. The finality - the severe silence - the chasm. So much more I want to say - so many more hugs I need to hug - so much missed when I had the opportunity. And the tomb is sealed - and the silence is so loud - and breathless.

Meditating on death - I see so much more profoundly the importance of being fully present with each moment - fully present with those who are still alive by our side. Life is in the present - life also is in remembrance - remembrance is a continuation of the departed - a way of honor - of recognition - do this in remembrance of me -

I remember - I remember —

I remember as I sip this tea today - this tea of death and remembrance—this tea of acceptance. Join me. Let’s accept together - grieve together - and remember - together - and accept.

Please leave a comment below. Join me in this conversation. I would appreciate hearing your thoughts on this - much love to you - and hugs - peace for now - And remember, stay CHARMED.

Tips for making sun tea:

Fill a clean glass jar with water. Do not use plastic. Plastic has toxins that would leech out into your water with the heat of the sun. Use glass, very important. Also do make sure your class is very clean.

It’s easy to make a large batch of tea and drink throughout the day - or, like I did in this video, just make a single serving and drink it as part of a self care ritual.

No matter the temperature, the nutrients will infuse into the water. Because it extracts the flavor quickly, many tea-drinkers boil water. However, with time, water at a lower temperature can achieve the same results. Even without the sun in the fridge overnight will work, if you would like a cold brew waiting for you fresh as you start your new day.

If you would rather use store bought or have already dried your herbs and have tea bags or some other straining method, use 2 tea bags for every 8 oz of water or the equivalent in loose-leaf tea.

If you choose to use the sun to heat it up, let sit 2 to 4 hours if using the dried hers, or 4 to 6 hours if using fresh, or until it reaches desired strength.

Use my suggestion of coreopsis with lavender or choose a blend of your own. I like herbal blends, but you may want some caffeine.

Add slices of organic lemon or lime for a nice finish. Drink warm or pour over ice.

Enjoy - enjoy the process of making it, and the act of drinking it.
