Let’s Have Tea Together - Shall We?

Sun tea with thyme and cornflower! A good drink for a sunny day. Thanks for joining me. Are you having a tea too? Tea is good - refreshing, and if you choose right, nourishing as well. How are you? I hope you are well. I am doing fine. What’s on your mind today? Me? I am thinking about school. I am not sure if I told you that I am a teacher. Yes, I teach high school English. Our school adopted a year-round schedule this last year, and because of this, today is my last day of summer break, and I return to the classroom tomorrow morning. What better time to be thinking about hope, and courage, and nourishment!

As I sip my tea. I fill myself up with hope. Hope for a good year. Hope that I will have all the time I need to do all the things I love. Hope that I will be able to meet the demands of each coming day. Hope for each of the students and their successes. I take another sip and sit back - reflecting on the thyme. Yes - that is the courage. Meeting so many new people - takes a lot of courage - I need courage. Courage to say what I need to say. Courage to speak and to do the best I can for myself and others. This tea tastes so good! I sip again and reflect on the nourishment! Nourishment is so very important. Many people today leave out this part - that is —the part that has to do with self-care. Moving from one to-do list to another - I know - I have been there - but to take the time out of your busy day to take care of you - to nourish you - your body - your mind - your soul - that is the charge - the charging station that keeps me going - that will keep you going-

So cheers. Cheers to hope and courage and nourishment - and to the best day ever —may it be so again and again. I hope you do have a beautiful day. Peace for now, and remember, stay CHARMED>.

Tips for making sun tea:

Fill a clean glass jar with water. Do not use plastic. Plastic has toxins that would leech out into your water with the heat of the sun. Use glass, very important. Also do make sure your class is very clean.

It’s easy to make a large batch of tea and drink throughout the day - or, like I did in this video, just make a single serving and drink it as part of a self care ritual.

No matter the temperature, the nutrients will infuse into the water. Because it extracts the flavor quickly, many tea-drinkers boil water. However, with time, water at a lower temperature can achieve the same results. Even without the sun in the fridge overnight will work, if you would like a cold brew waiting for you fresh as you start your new day.

If you would rather use store bought or have already dried your herbs and have tea bags or some other straining method, use 2 tea bags for every 8 oz of water or the equivalent in loose-leaf tea.

If you choose to use the sun to heat it up, let sit 2 to 4 hours if using the dried hers, or 4 to 6 hours if using fresh, or until it reaches desired strength.

Use my suggestion of coreopsis with lavender or choose a blend of your own. I like herbal blends, but you may want some caffeine.

Add slices of organic lemon or lime for a nice finish. Drink warm or pour over ice.

Enjoy - enjoy the process of making it, and the act of drinking it.
