20: Move: CHARMED Through Art Journaling and Gardening

Life begins the day you start a garden.

Reflection:

I love practicing gardening. I think I am most happy when I am digging in the dirt. I love every aspect of gardening. I thrive close to the soil in the fresh air and the sunlight. I delight in my industrious company: the bees and the wasps, the ladybugs, and mantis, the butterflies and the squirrels. The birds charm me with their songs. Twisting, bending, lifting, putting, pulling, pushing, knelling squatting, I am close to the Earth. My garden challenges me, calms me, - engages me. My garden causes me to focus and helps me to live in the present moment.

I hope you like the video today. Filmed just recently, my husband and I are having a lot of fun putting in a new garden plot in our yard where, sadly, an old pecan tree once grew. We lost it, but gained a rather large sunny spot. I am hoping to plant a few vegetables and berry brambles in this space. The method I am using is a blend between ‘No-Dig garnering where I am putting down on the Earth a layer of cardboard and then toping that with a full bag of quality compost. I will plant directly into the compost. For the size of the plots, I was inspired by the market garden - I love 30” wide beds. They are so easy to work with and protect.

Centering Thought:

I move in my garden; I am alive and happy.

Questions:

  • Do you garden?

  • How often do you garden?

  • How do you feel when you garden?

  • Where do you garden most of the time?

  • Where is your favorite place to garden?

  • Why do you do garden?

Gratitude:

I am so thankful for my love for gardening. I am thankful for the time and space I have to garden. I am thankful for how I feel when I garden. I am truly grateful for all of the life in my garden. I am thankful that I have all the tools I need to garden. Am am thankful for the harvest.

Blessings
