8 Gratitude

I offer my thanks - To the magnificent trees - roots, and trucks, and leaves.

Trees exhale for us so that we can inhale them to stay alive. Can we ever forget that? Let us love trees with every breath we take until we perish.

trees

I am thankful for trees. I understand the importance of our relationship, being so very vital to our lives. Abundant providers. Our basic needs are provided by trees: oxygen and filtered air, food, medicine, shelter, shade, fuel - homes for the animals and places of rest - pleasant perches of safety. With every variety to catch the eye and delight in various ways, even our need for beauty can be provided by trees. Beautiful in every season, trees offer the greens of springs and summers highlighted with the fruits and nuts of all colors, the reds, yellows, oranges, and browns of the fall, and the grays, whites and blacks of winter with the deep greens of the evergreens to help us to understand constancy and vigilance. Trees too, sacred and symbolic, communicate ancient lessons, sending roots to stabilize, reaching tall towards the sky, giving without thought, growing mighty and tall - taking time and existing for years and years - speaking with an ancient voice - of stability, generosity, guardianship, groundless - - - I love trees! “Trees, I thank you.”
