Heart-shaped and fine toothed. Your light leaves release today. From your tall body.

 

Grow Straight

I remember walking in the woods with my dad when I was young. “What’s this tree and this . . .” I would ask. He knew the names to all of them! He would say of the poplar, “Tall and straight, smooth bark, yep - that’s the poplar.” I so thankful to have these memories of my dad. I miss him!

“Grow tall - grow straight,” the poplar tells me. “I will —”
