Thought 8 - In Surrender, I Am Strong

Surrender is not weakness.

Reflection

I surrender, and I am strong. My power within grows as I give way to what is. I learn. I engage with life head-on in acceptance. I open my eyes, and I am aware. I accept the realness of life, and in the truth of my reality-I am powerful, grounded, unshakable. I accept. I accept who I am, and who others are. I accept where I am, and where others are. Through surrender, I am free of every situation. My liberation is divine. Abandoning myself to what is, I trust in the unfolding of my life, and my life unfolds just perfectly. I surrender my light, love, and energy. As I create, I pour myself out into the world. I surrender my fear - I let it go into the void; it dissipates. I surrender my goals, and my power, and I, surprisingly grow stronger. I empty myself to live this human life, experiencing all life has to offer, the offerings are my own. In total surrender, I give of my life-and my life expands. Like breathing - I surrender- exhale and inhale. I let go of mental and emotional resistance to what is. Surrender changes me. Surrender transforms me; my change is profound.

Centering Thought

I surrender, and I am strong.

My Lord God,
I have no idea where I am going.
I do not see the road ahead of me.
I cannot know for certain where it will end.
nor do I really know myself,
and the fact that I think I am following your will
does not mean that I am actually doing so.
But I believe that the desire to please you
does in fact please you.
And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing.
I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire.
And I know that if I do this you will lead me by the right road,
though I may know nothing about it.
Therefore will I trust you always though
I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death.
I will not fear, for you are ever with me,
and you will never leave me to face my perils alone.
— Prayer of Surrender, Thomas Merton
