Woodland Meditation Five

Red capped and dappled. Pushing up among the leaves. Iconic toadstool!

Lift

This year has been a grand one for mushrooms! Every where, they are popping up - lifting through the leaves - domes of magic. Growing up, my mom decorated our home with pictures of mushrooms. She used to cross-stitch (a type of sewing) and she cross-stitched a few pictures of mushrooms and had them all around. The colors too, where mushroomy - oranges, golds, and greens. So seeing these this year on my walks turned my thoughts to her, and our warm and comfortable home and her love for the woods and plants. And also - to fairy-tales - I remember many tales of the woods that mom would read to me with the mushrooms - even just like the one I have pictured here - illustrated throughout - my woods are as magical as those in the tales - I love my woods!

In observing the mushrooms closely this year - trying to get them at their best angles photographically - I have been amazed at how (even though they are very delicate) strong they are. Over night - they spring up, lifting the forest floor - whatever - pinecones, loads of straw, leaves, branches . . . and push through - and so - today - that is my thought - whatever my load - I will rise above - I am mushroom —- getting so “much-room!”

Blessings
