14: Eat Well: My Spicy Lunch Smoothie

We should all be eating fruits and vegetables as if our lives depend on it— because they do.

Reflection:

Food is important. We all know this. Food is one one the basic needs that we have in terms of survival. But, the food that we choose to eat not only keeps us alive, it also determines our quality of life. If we choose foods that nourish and strengthen - ripe, fresh, organic, whole foods that digest-well, leave no toxic residues, and energize, our bodies radiate health. On the other-hand, chemically-laden processed foods create rifts in our bodies, impede natural flow, and lead to disease and early death. Keep a journal and make notes of what you eat, and how your body responds. Of course if you haven’t been choosing well lately, you will need to allow time for your body to eliminate the toxic build up before you get an accurate account. This endeavor will be quite illuminating! The foods we choose to eat are so very important to our well-being and also the well-being of the world. In 2015, I had a realization about food which involved a complete paradigm shift. Since then, I have been eating a low-fat-plant-based- whole-foods diet, and I have thrived.

The recipe I am giving to you today is one of my favorites. It has just the right combination of sweet and sour to satisfy my taste buds. It is easy to make and take on days when I am on-the-go. This recipe works wonderfully as a salad too. On days when I have more time to eat, I skip the blend, and eat it as a salad. Enjoy!
