9: Center and Connect Through Writing a Letter - Connecting With Others
Reflection:
Today there are so many ways to connect with others. The choices abound. We can message, tweet, email, and fax; but, in all of our connecting, there is a collective loneliness that permeates society, a blanket covering all. Yes, we connect, but how deep do the roots go? It’s time to lose the loneliness and awaken to the awareness that we really are together.
We have talked about how necessary it is to center and connect with self. Today, let us, while remaining grounded in who we are, move from that center to connect with others. There are many practical ways to connect.
Today, because of environmental circumstances it may be hard to connect with others face to face. One way that is meaningful is to slow down and take the time to write a letter. A-good-ole-fashioned-snail-mail letter is good for the soul of the sender as well as the receiver.
Writing a letter allows us time and space to truly express ourselves. When we writs, we can say what is on our mind. Writing is medicine. Authentic self-expression is beautiful outwardly, and is a healing act inwardly. When we write - we can be exact in what we want to say. So get your pen, your ink, your paper, and your stamps out, and let’s write!
Centering Thought:
I see you; I am glad you are there; we are one.
Questions:
What are the various ways that you connect with others?
When you think of others in your life, how do you feel?
Do you feel at home with others?
When you listen to others, what do you hear?
Are you mindful about how you speak to others?
Are you mindful how you treat others?
Did you give love today?
Did you receive love today?
Gratitude:
I am so thankful for the people in my life. I am grateful for my ability to connect. I am glad that I love, and that I am loved. I am thankful for all of the various ways that I am able to connect with others.
